Our Zinfandel Origin Wine Tour from Split, Croatia is a cool combination of history and wine in 2 small boutique wineries.
Zinfandel’s migratory routes have been puzzling scientists for years until recently when DNA tests revealed it’s true origin and traced it back to the steep villages near Split. Join us for this educational wine tasting experience and learn about Zinfandel’s true origin, try indigenous Croatian wine sorts not available elsewhere in old and new wineries with a walk in the Biblical Garden.

PROGRAM:
-transport is organized 4h before sunset year round from Split center every day
-wine tasting several wines (bottle and barrel) including the ‘Original Zin’ with local snacks in Matela winery dating back to the 19th century
-walk through vineyards and olive orchards to the Biblical Garden with an olive tree blessed by the Pope Wojtyla and small vineyard planted with Zinfandel and it’s 11 genetic cousins (weather dependent)
-drive to the only winery in Split (garage boutique winery located in the underground nuclear war basement in Split suburb)
